Dieser Abschnitt des Grand Union Kanals verbindet Brentford in London mit Birmingham mit einer Länge von 216km und mit 165 unbemannten Schleusen und drei Tunnel. Hier ist eine Auswahl der Verbindungen zu anderen Gewässern:

- Gayton Junction zum Northampton Arm und weiter über River Nenne zur Küste

- Norton Junction zur Leicester Section

- Braunston Junction zum Oxford Canal (North)

- Napton Junction zum Oxford Kanal (South) und weiter zur Themse bei Oxford

Wer noch nicht genug hat, kann von Birmingham aus auf dem Shropshire Union Canal 106 km fortsetzen in Richtung NW zur Liverpool Bay. Unterwegs gibt es Verbindungen zu den Midlands (u.a. mit dem Cheshire Ring: 200km).

Auf http://www.waterscape.com/things-to-do/boating/guides findet man eine Kanalbeschreibung mit Schleusen und Brücken, aber keine Kilometerangaben. Deshalb sind es leider nur ca. km-Angaben in der Beschreibung. Hilfe wird gerne angenommen!

Die erste Sektion von Brentford bis zur Schleuse in Berkhamsted (Lock 54) ist semi-tidal.
