Der Søndersee ist als einziger der vier Seen bei Maribo befahrbar. Er ist mit einer Fläche von 8,52 km2 der grössste See von Lolland. Die durchschnittliche Wassertiefe ist 1,7m bei einer Maximaltiefe von 5,0m. Der grösste Teil des Sees ist in Privatbesitz (Engetoft Gods) und es gibt Einschränkungen auf Grund des Naturschutzes.
