Der Speicher wurde 1954-1959 für den Hochwasserschutz und konstanten Wasserspiegel im Isartal gebaut. Fjordänlicher Charakter mit steinigem Ufer. Zwei Wasserkraftwerke links und rechts vom Staudamm. Im See liegt das ehemalige Dorf Fall, es wurde neu erbaut. Höhe des Stauziels 767m üNN. Der Wasserspiegel ist abhängig von der Jahreszeit. Ruderverein in Fall. Die Kilometerangen dienen im Moment nur zur Sortierung.
