Ein 7km2 grosser See an der Nordweste Küste von Jütland (Jylland) . Der Nissum Fjord ist von der Nordsee durch eine 13km Landzunge abgegrezt. In weiten Bereichen beträgt die Wassertiefe 1m, nur im zentralen und im sülichen Bereich (Felsted Kog) maximal 2 - 3m. Verbindung zur Nordsee durch eine Schleuse in Thorsminde.
