Der Shropshire Union Canal (auch "Shroppie" genannt) verbindet Birmingham mit Liverpool mit einer Lange von 106 km. Gebaut in den Jahren 1774 bis 1835. Er beginnt in Birmingham an der Autherley Junction und endet in Ellesmere Port mit dem Übergang zum Manchester Ship Kanal und von dort weiter Richtung NW zum River Mersey (tidal)
